Secure WebRTC Real Time Communications Service for Audio and Video Streaming Communications
Avila has been granted a WebRTC real time video and audio streaming communications patent. The company is developing a WebRTC based smartphone video chat service called Vodeo, broadcast video streaming and CDN services that provide secure peer-to-peer video and VoIP communications services to commercial and social media users. The Vodeo chat service allows subscribers to capture, record and store video chats in a distributed video storage platform where subscribers can view and share secure videos with friends and family. The WebRTC patent also describes the ability to implement encrypted video conferencing on an SFU and enforce secret disappearing video chats by imbedding DRM encryption on all subscribers Vodeo apps that can block video capture-replay functions on a Receivers smartphone. The WebRTC service provides end-to-end encryption (E2EE) and implements Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) and Blockchain to protect subscribers PII.
Most video messaging and video streaming services in the market today require proprietary hardware and software media servers and browser plugins to provide commercial video streaming and video messaging services. WebRTC is a very exciting, powerful cutting-edge technology and standards that leverage a set of plug-in free JavaScript APIs used in both desktops and mobile browsers to provide high quality and low latency video streaming services. Previously, external plugins were required in order to achieve similar functionality to that provided by WebRTC. Today the WebRTC platform is embedded as a de facto standard in 90% of smartphones and PC browsers including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge browsers.
WebRTC uses multiple standards and protocols, including: data transport streams, network routing servers, UDP/TCP protocols and JavaScript APIs. However, there continues to be a need to implement advanced security including E2E encryption, DRM protection, distributed hash technology (DHT) with Blockchain technology and an IPFS based distributed storage platform to store, share and encrypt streamed videos, real time messages and DRM protected files. The Secure WebRTC (SRTCS) has also been designed to provide a unique cloud based streamed video storage and sharing platform service for consumers and business that deliver low latency video streaming (less than 200-300 ms) and distributed edge hosted video/CDN file access in the platform.
The WebRTC invention provides push-button connectivity between users for audio and video streaming using WebRTC technology to discover and establish peer-to-peer connectivity between users having the proprietary Vodeo mobile and PC applications. Using the inventive Vodeo app, a sender may select one or more receivers, who also have the Vodeo app, to establish a video chat or to share a file. Selecting the receiver(s) to send an invite initiates a complex group of processes, programming and protocols, including a discovery communication file, sending the discovery communication file in a series of specially encrypted communications to a networked cloud platform that includes a WebRTC-Janus Gateway Server, a Signaling Server, a Cloud Storage Server, and a Private Blockchain. The WebRTC-Janus Gateway server forwarding the discovery communication to the receiver using subscriber information managed in Blockchain and stored in a distributed cloud storage with all lookup and delivery communications and all stored data specially encrypted. The receiver Vodeo app generating a specific response/acceptance file, sent encrypted back to the WebRTC-Janus Server working with the Signaling Server to generate a peer-to-per connection using private and public IP addresses of the sender and receiver. The sender may apply DRM permissions to the streamed video or audio content in the peer-to-peer connection and the app uses an encryption key that is integrated into and required for the playback codec to process the content and where a DRM violation results in revocation of the encrypted key. Multi-party video and audio conferences may be broadcast using insertable streams of user defined processing steps for encoding/decoding of WebRTC media stream tracks and for end-to-end encryption of the encoded data.

Advantages of Digital Rights Technology
Persistent Content Protection
Poof-It allows the sender to select rights to disable the receiver from saving, forwarding or copying contents and messages...even disrupt a screen shot capture. Contents NEVER resides on receivers device. Server-side Rendering.
Violations by Receiver are Known
When a receiver of a protected message attempts to violate the rights enabled, the sender is notified and has the ability to "POOF" the entire message and/or the receiver making any or all conversations and contents disappear forever.
Screen Capture Disablement
Poof-It messages can disable a screen capture of sensitive pictures and images
Self Sovereign Identity (SSI) with your Digital Wallet
Personal Identifiable Information is at risk in other messaging platforms, but not with Poof-It
SSI allows people to interact in the digital world with the same freedom and capacity for trust as they do in the offline world.
People are becoming aware that the popular messaging apps use their Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to market their products and sell users’ PII to other companies. Safeguarding PII has been legislated in European countries and people are becoming aware of it in other parts of the World.
Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) is becoming a universal need for individuals to own their identity and control use of their PII. We believe it will be a highly differentiating feature for Poof-It to provide SSI to its users. The following attributes are key to providing a successful and satisfactory SSI for Poof-It messaging service.
1. Control - People must control their identities, celebrity, or privacy as they prefer
2. Access - People must have access to their own data — no gatekeepers, nothing hidden
3. Transparency - Systems and algorithms must be open and transparent
4. Persistence - Identities must be long-lived — for as long as the user wishes
5. Portability - Information and services about identity must be transportable by the user
6. Interoperability - Identities should be as widely usable as possible; e.g. cross borders
7. Consent - People must freely agree to how their identity information will be used
How SSI is implemented for Poof-It
Poof-It will implement Self-Sovereign Identity for its users through the unique application of Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), Verifiable Credentials (VC), Poof-It Blockchain and its proprietary messaging software implemented in Poof-It Digital Wallet and Poof-It Cloud Services.
The Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) are a new form of digital identity for people and things. Their specification has been issued by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and their usage is being adopted throughout the world.
DIDs provide complete privacy to their holders/owners. The DID holder has complete control of how their PII can be used and who can use it. There is no central authority to issue the DID and their owner can keep the same DID for its lifetime.
DID and Verifiable Credentials (VC) are the foundation of Self-Sovereign Identity, and the distributed Blockchain ledger makes it possible to run various applications/services on a local or worldwide basis. They together allow the user to establish their identity without needing a central or government authority. The complex cryptographic verification takes place in the background with no effort on the part of its users.
Poof-It will implement DID for user identification, providing them complete control of how their PII is utilized. Poof-It will implement its own DID Document format to run its messaging service efficiently and offer new innovative services. Poof-It’s DID Document will ensure that no user information, including their phone number, can be obtained by anyone.
The Self-Sovereign Identity framework is described by the following diagram. Poof-It will be the issuer of DID and will provide Poof-It Verifiable Credentials for its subscribers. Most importantly, Poof-It will provide the Governance Framework, which is essential for establishing trust among the users and outside parties.
